Session Description: Clients aren't "acting out" or being “resistant" - they’re inadequately warmed up to change. Our job as clinicians is to help them lower their anxiety, stay engaged in the process and increase their capacity to tolerate change. Now more than ever, we need to rely on somatically-based modalities to help our clients stay grounded and resourced in the process, and build connection so they are motivated to keep coming back. In this educational and experiential presentation, we will explore a variety of tools and techniques from the modalities of Somatic ExperiencingⓇ, Psychodrama and Sociometry, to help clients build secure attachment and stay better regulated, so they can move forward on their healing journey. Clinicians will have an abundance of sociometric and psychodrama tools (doubling, spectrograms, locograms, step in sociometry, action sociograms, etc) that they can bring directly back into their work, to better engage clients in the therapeutic process and help them keep coming back. These tools can be utilized in individual, couples, group and family work.
Learning Objectives:
After this activity participants should be able to
Identify at least 2 clinical benefits of utilizing Sociometry with clients.
Identify at least 2 clinical benefits of utilizing Doubling with clients.
Identify at least 2 components of secure attachment.
